Stephen Stott

Stephen Stott is a grief educator, certified somatic breathwork practitioner, and founder of Embrace The Darkness LLC, an organization dedicated to providing compassionate, body-centered support for those navigating grief and trauma. With over a decade of experience as a social worker, Stephen has supported individuals facing diverse life challenges, including sudden loss, suicide, and complex trauma. His own journey began with the profound loss of his sister in a car accident at age 16, an experience that deepened his empathy for those who experience grief in ways that can feel isolating or overwhelming. Through Embrace The Darkness LLC, Stephen has cultivated a unique approach that integrates somatic breathwork—a practice that enables the release of grief and trauma stored in the body without the need for verbal expression. Understanding that many people find it difficult to talk about their grief or trauma, Stephen offers a healing space that honors the body’s role in processing loss. Somatic breathwork is a gentle, transformative practice that allows individuals to work through their emotions non-verbally, helping them find relief, resilience, and renewal through intentional breathwork. Stephen’s practice is rooted in his passion for providing inclusive, holistic care. As a queer person of color, he brings a deep awareness of the need for accessible and culturally sensitive support for marginalized communities. His professional training includes certifications from SomatIQ Breathwork and Grief.com, allowing him to guide clients in a way that respects both the emotional and physical dimensions of grief. In addition to individual sessions, he collaborates with nonprofits, veteran organizations, and community partners to extend his services to those in need, often in settings where traditional talk therapy might feel inaccessible or overwhelming. Stephen’s work with Embrace The Darkness LLC empowers people to process their grief on their own terms, discovering healing through the body rather than through words alone. Can I ever feel whole again? As someone who has walked this path, I’ve learned that grief doesn’t just affect the heart or mind—it takes […]
